Safe and effective odor removal
Vegger Biogas is Denmark’s oldest biogas plant, built in 1986 as part of the Danish Village Energy Plan. They completed a major expansion in 2014 and needed to replace the old bark filter system with a safe and efficient biofilter that could match a much larger odor generation and meet the authorities’ stricter requirements for odor removal.
In the tender phase, BBK was the only biofilter manufacturer that could guarantee odor-free systems without complaints from neighbors. During the design process, there was a close collaboration on the design of air ventilation, where BBK used smoke fogs to specify point extraction and piping, among other things. Therefore, the new facility was fully upgraded from day one.
The biofilter is built in 2 sections in concrete elements. BBK supplied the extraction system/piping, buildings and filter solution.
Sustainable biogas production
Vegger Biogas converts sludge, manure and biological waste into biogas. Built for 60 t/day biomass, it has now been expanded to 400 t/day. The much larger volumes handled in a small urban community place high demands on process containment and a tight piping system to extract odors from tanks, warehouses, etc. so that all odorants are removed in the filtration system and nothing escapes.
